Often an item of clothing or other fabrics can unwittingly become damp, then when left over time will become impregnated with mildew.

These can be removed from white fabrics, by rubbing a mixture of equal parts lemon juice and salt onto the spots. Allow the fabric to dry in the sun before washing. Badly infected areas may require further treatments.
